How our AI Findability research uses the YouTube API

Updated August 2026

Findable Video is a research and marketing tool operated by ISSIMO Story Agency. This page describes exactly how it uses the YouTube Data API, in the interest of transparency and compliance with YouTube API Services policies.

What the tool does

It reads publicly available metadata from YouTube channels and computes a deterministic 0–100 "AI findability" score — channel signals (15) + the per-video text layer (60) + on-site signals (25) — that measures how well a brand's public video content is structured to be found and cited by AI answer engines. For research, results are compiled into a spreadsheet to compare public channels in aggregate (for example, benchmarking large sets of public company channels).

Data we read

Through read-only endpoints of the YouTube Data API v3: channels (a channel's public description, links, and custom handle), and playlistItems and videos (the public titles, descriptions, tags, durations, and chapter timestamps of a channel's uploads). The search endpoint is used only to resolve a channel URL to its channel ID when needed.

What we do not do

We do not use OAuth or access any private or authenticated user data. We do not store video content or personal data, we do not display YouTube-sourced data to third parties beyond aggregate research figures, and we do not resell YouTube data or use it for advertising. Raw API responses are used transiently to compute a score and are then discarded; only the derived scores and the public channel name and URL are retained for research.

Disclosures

Findable Video uses YouTube API Services and is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

What the output is

The result is a spreadsheet with one row per channel: the channel and its website, the three layer scores (channel signals, video text layer, on-site), the 0–100 total and its tier, and the per-signal rates behind the score. It is delivered privately to the person who requested it and used for internal research; it is not published.
