Can you measure how visible you are to AI?

Updated September 2026

Yes, but only across many samples, and only with honest ranges. A single prompt run tells you almost nothing, because AI brand recommendations are highly inconsistent from one run to the next, so a real measurement averages many runs rather than trusting one answer.

How inconsistent? SparkToro ran nearly 3,000 prompt repetitions and found the same list of recommended brands came back fewer than one time in a hundred. That is the core measurement problem: ask once and you have measured noise. The practical rule is a sampling floor, roughly 60 to 100 runs per prompt, with anything under about 50 too noisy to trust.

It also helps to separate three layers. Readiness asks whether your content is even set up to be found and cited, which is what our deterministic 0 to 100 Findability score measures. Citation share asks whether your content is actually named in the wild, measured across a fixed panel of buyer questions and several engines. Business impact asks whether that visibility produced traffic or leads, the softest layer, which should be labeled honestly because AI referral attribution is still immature.

In our own testing, the same company can score within about two points across three different AI systems yet be described with different facts by each, which is why we report ranges across roughly a thousand answers rather than a single headline number.
